The Brooks Museum and Cazateatro Bilingual Theater invite you to the third annual Dia De Los Muertos Parade and Festival this Saturday, November 2nd!

The parade starts at 11:30 a.m. and travels from Overton Square Tower Courtyard (just north of the parking garage). The floats, performers, and musicians will travel down Florence to Madison, from Madison to Tucker to Poplar, and down Poplar to Overton Park.

The fest starts at 12:30 p.m. and lasts until 3:30 p.m. Here are a few things you can expect:

– free admission to the Brooks
– music and dance performers
– food trucks
– activities for kids, including face painting
– altars on display in the museum and on the plaza
– film screening of Flickering Lights: Days of the Dead inside the museum

Performers will include the Meztli, Danza Azteca Quetzalcoatl, Los Viejitos, and Herenica Hispana dance groups, and musical groups Sonia de los Santos and Mariachi Guadalajara.

Pro tip: The Park is going to be busy on Saturday, so they’re making the roads inside Overton Park one-way and will have alternate routes for traffic that day. Walk, bike, scoot, or whatever if you can, rather than try to park. Read more details about the parade route and traffic route here.
