Fried Snickers, Gator Wrasslin’, and More At The Mid-South Fair

The Mid-South Fair is back at the Landers Center in Southaven starting today. Get your fill of classic carnival rides and Pronto Pups, then stick around for five more fun things to do.

The Mid-South Fair is open daily September 19 – 29, 2019 with varying hours. It’s $10 for adults and $5 for kids and seniors, plus $5 parking and fees for rides and games, etc. There are a few times with free admission and free parking, which I have listed at the bottom of this post. Or you can read more details here.

Here are five things to do at the Mid-South Fair in Southaven:

1. Lance Bass

Attention my 90s and 2000s people: Lance Bass is going to be at the Mid-South Fair. I repeat, Mississippi native Lance Bass of *NSYNC, will host the Pop2000 Tour on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. What is the Pop2000 Tour, you ask? It’s O-Town, Tyler Hilton, Aaron Carter (!!) and the one-and-only Ryan Cabrera. Yes. That Ryan Cabrera, with the hair. Q107.5 presents the show and it’s no additional cost to enjoy once you get into the fair.

2.  Fried Snickers

What’s more American than taking delicious, processed foods and dipping them into a bubbling bucket of grease? They’re frying up Snickers and 3 Musketeers candy bars, Oreo cookies, Twinkies, and all the usual funnel cake nonsense at the fair. If your arteries can take it, you ought to try it. I’m pretty sure a bald eagle cries every time you turn down a fried Twinkie.

3. Big Ol’ Turkey Legs

While we’re talking about food, you know what else they have at the fair? Get in touch with your inner medieval-era person and take a big bite out of a juicy turkey leg from one of the turkey leg vendors. Do it for the ‘gram, if you must. Do it for Ron Swanson. Do it for yourself. It’s a healthy, low-fat, protein-packed option for your Mid-South Fair midday meal.

4. Alligator Wrestling

Kachunga and the Alligator Show is a guy getting up close and personal with alligators. You can catch the reptile show at select times during the fair.

5. DockDogs

Pups of great skill and determination hurl themselves off of docks and catch things in their mouths before splashing satisfyingly in the water. Cheer for your favorites and witness the extreme athleticism and cuteness on select days. Think your dog has what it takes? You can actually sign them up to compete at DockDogs.com.
