365 Things to Do in Memphis #269: The Pink Palace Crafts Fair

365 Things to Do in Memphis #269: The Pink Palace Crafts Fair

Whether you want to get a head start on your holiday shopping or are fascinated by watching artisans work (or you just like a good petting zoo), you should check out the annual Pink Palace Crafts Fair.

It's assignment #269 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis, and 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of this beloved Memphis event. This year the Crafts Fair is September 23-25 at Cancer Survivors Park in East Memphis.

Every year, the Pink Palace throws a giant, three-day crafts fair in Audubon Park (the eastern part, also called Cancer Survivors Park). Vendors from all over the country sell their handmade works, artisans demonstrate traditional crafts—think furniture making, metalworking, soap making and more—and local arts groups perform on the main stage.

I recommend checking out the culinary tent, a magical world of cooking demonstrations and free samples.

There's also a hands-on area where kids can make spin art and pinch pots, get their faces painted, play games, and pet adorable animals.

Pink Palace Crafts Fair, Memphis, Tenn.

The crafts fair starts on Friday, September 23 and runs through Sunday, September 25. If you're bent on shopping, I recommend going on Friday (especially during the morning), when the vendors will have the largest selections and the crowds will be the smallest.

Hours: Friday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Saturday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Tickets are available at the gate and are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for kids; you can also get a weekend pass for $20. Parking is free. Bring the kids, but leave the pets at home.
