365 Things to Do in Memphis #87: Take Yourself Out to the Ball Game

365 Things to Do in Memphis #87: Take Yourself Out to the Ball Game

Memphis has one of the nicest minor league baseball stadiums and most conveniently located in the heart of downtown. Assignment #87 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to spend a spring afternoon or evening in said stadium watching the Memphis Redbirds play ball.

It's easy to forget that you're in the middle of a city during a Redbird's game. The stadium is breezy and quiet, the food is awesome (they have barbecue nachos!), and relatively inexpensive with in-field tickets starting at $18. The stadium is almost like a park that happens to have a huge baseball diamond.

If you need more reasons to go, know that the Redbirds regularly have special promotions and giveaways during home games making MiLB truly the best.

Here are just a few of the ones scheduled for this season:

Throwback ThursdayFans 21+ can enjoy $2 draft beers and $1 hot dogs as the Redbirds take the field in throwback Memphis Chicks Jerseys.

Saturday Postgame Fireworks: Fireworks at the end of every Saturday home game, plus on Monday, July 3.

Ice Cream Sundays: All kids 12 and under will receive a free ice cream sandwich upon entering the gates! After the game, all kids can run the bases just like the pros.
