Update: Bluff City Coffee is now open in Cooper Young, as well as their original South Main downtown location. Bluff City Coffee coffee is in Cooper Young in the former Bank of America right at Cooper Street and Young Avenue.

Bluff City Coffee has been a South Main staple for a decade, offering coffee drinks (all espresso-based), pastries, and a place for folks to meet and work. I talked with owner David Adams about his plans for the midtown Memphis coffee shop.

The midtown location is smaller inside than the downtown, but the main event will be the large patio, which is partially covered under what was once the drive-through. (You know how midtowners love their patios.) Bluff City has sandwiches for breakfast and lunch, quiches, everything they do downtown plus more.

"We had ten years downtown, and we wanted to take what we learned and apply it to Cooper Young," David told me. "They're both walkable neighborhoods with plenty of overlaps in customers." He also says that Bluff City Coffee is excited to be in Cooper Young, because "there's really no neighborhood like it in town."

There are a couple of coffee shops in the area (Java Cabana, Muddy's, Otherlands) but as a resident of the neighborhood, they all have their unique feel and different hours.
