Happy I Love Memphis Gets A New Website Day!
Happy I Love Memphis Gets A New Website Day! I'm so excited to launch the new site design. Everything you're seeing on your screen right now was custom-designed (in collaboration with local firm S2N) to make I Love Memphis easier and more fun to use.
Let me take you quickly through the new I Love Memphis.
- Posts sorted by topic! Story previews! Magic!
You can now scroll or tap through easy, self-explanatory new post topics i.e., Food (see above) from the homepage. On a desktop you can even see a preview of recent posts in those categories.
- Check out hand-picked stories and special events.
At the top of the homepage you'll find posts I've hand-picked (because they're recent or relevant). You'll also see some Upcoming Events that I've picked out - think of them as a sampling of what's going on in town that week.
- You can still read the posts in chronological order.
Just scroll until you see "More Memphis to [heart]". All the posts below that are in order, from most recent to oldest.
- Sharing is caring.
It's now easier to share posts that you like - on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit, or by email. Just look for the icons at the bottom of each post.
- Want to search by location? There's a map for that.
There is an illustrated, clickable map of the city towards the bottom of the homepage on desktop and mobile versions. Note that the above map isn't interactive.
- Bigger, Faster, Stronger, and Now With More Photos: The New Events Calendar
You can now see event listings in a chronological list or in a monthly calendar view. Also, you can search for events by topic or date. Now when you submit events (which you can do here) you can add photos, plus more information on event venues and whoever's organizing the event.
Give it a few weeks to fill out, and I think you'll find that the calendar is kept much more up to date. You can actually help this process go faster if you submit events (again, click here to do that).
Memphis lovers like you are the reason that the I Love Memphis blog exists. Your comments, suggestions, and ideas are what make this whole thing tick and I couldn't be more grateful. Thank you. So. much. The last two years have been amazing, and I'm looking forward to what we can do next.
Now, go frolic a bit in the new I Love Memphis blog and let me know what you think.
- Holly
