- German restaurant and Overton Square hot spot Schweinehaus is hosting a "wine" dinner on Monday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. where you can enjoy five courses paired with Boone's Farm wine-like beverages. You really need to read the menu for this one. Tickets are just $42 for this once-in-a-lifetime experience and I am giving away a pair! Instructions for the giveaway are in the last bullet point of this post.

Events

- The Revival at the Tennessee Brewery kicks off this Thursday at lunchtime. (I'll be doing a live podcast starting at 5 p.m. with special guests from the Brewery and all the usual Memphis loving. Click here to listen live on Thursday or subscribe on iTunes to make sure you hear all four episodes of I Love Memphis Live From The Brewery (biweekly through the end of May).

- Actress Kristin Davis (Sex and the City) will be in Memphis on April 15, 2015 to promote an animal rights film "Gardeners of Eden" and you can go to the screening for just $30. Get more info in this article from the Commercial Appeal and buy tickets here.

- Memphis Made Brewing taproom will be open on Saturdays starting on April 25. They're marking the occasion with a "Hopped" spring beer party from noon to 6 p.m. It's free and all ages to enter (of course you must pay for your beer and be 21 to drink). Aldo's, Food Geek, and Fresh Gulf Shrimp will be on hand along with Mighty Souls Brass Band and Goner Records.

- Are you a karaoke master? Do you like to dance? Are you an animal lover? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, you might be interested in the Humane Society's Bark After Dark Karaoke fundraiser on April 17 at 409 S. Main. Tickets are $40 and include seven tickets to be used for singing slots, drinks, and games.

- Want to wear your wedding dress again while supporting a Memphis institution? The Wedding Dress Ball on April 18 in Memphis is your opportunity to do so. The dress-up cocktail party will be held at Propcellar (2585 Summer Ave.) and will benefit St. Mary's Soup Kitchen. Go here for details.

- Memphis is drowning in festivals, in a good way. If you haven't checked out the Insider's Guide to Memphis Crawfish Festivals, the post about the Mid-South Food Truck Festival (which has been updated to include the list of food trucks), the Coliseum's Roundhouse Revival, the Africa in April cultural fest, the Healthy Memphis Food Festival, or the list of Spring Events, well, then, there are all the links.

Volunteering

- The Broad Avenue Spring Art Walk is Friday April 24 and they need volunteers to help out! Email [email protected] if you're interested. Volunteers will be entered to win prizes, including perhaps one of those Five In One Memphis map prints.

- Volunteer fairs will never be the same thanks to Memphis organization Volunteer Odyssey, which launched a new virtual volunteer fair called Volio last week. Instead of sifting through websites, Facebook pages, or brochures in order to find your next volunteering project, watch 90 second videos about local organizations to find your match. This is totally cool.

- Speaking of volunteering, if your teen needs ideas for community service, summer volunteering, or scholarship hours projects, newly re-birthed Volunteer Memphis/Mid-South published this lovely blog post with 25 Opportunities for Mid-South Teens To Volunteer.

I would pair Boone's Farm with Brezel, that tasty, fluffy baked pretzel with beer cheese, thereby allowing me to consume wine and beer at the same time without looking like a lost soul.

I'd pair Blue Hawaiian Boone's Farm (easily the best of Boone's) with some delicious Schweinehaus pretzels. Because let's be honest, Boone's Farm goes down so smooth, some would say like velvet, that I'm probably gonna polish off a bottle or two or three. So I'll defintely  need some delicious, salty bread dunked in beer cheese and spicy mustard to soak up the boozy Boone's goodness swilling around in my belly.

It depends heavily upon the flavor. I'll go with the flavors in your picture, which are obviously meant for a four course meal, right to left. Melon Ball - Bacon Blue Hawaiian - Bacon Strawberry Daquirri - Bacon Mango Grove - Bacon

Apfelstrudel with a light sprinkle of white powdered sugar, paired with some old school Boone's Farm Apple wine, would be Germany's answer to New Orleans' coffee and beignets!  That would be a refreshing, light appetizer or desert, with a kick!  ;-)
