Here are a few upcoming events in Memphis, whether you're looking for a outing with friends, a date night idea, or somewhere to take the kids that you'll also enjoy.

Have you always wondered what's going on at the old U.S. Marine Hospital by the Metal Museum? You have your chance to take a tour and party on the grounds this weekend.
There will be guided tours every half hour from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. (limited to 100 people), scary movies after sundown, and a bonfire.
Bring your chairs, blankets, guitars for jamming, and well-behaved pets, but leave your coolers and picnics at home. You get three drink tickets with your ticket and food will be served (Slider Inn sliders and much more) before 9 p.m.
What: An Evening With Friends of the Fort
When: Saturday, October 25, 2014, 3:30 p.m. – midnight
Where: 360 Metal Museum Drive
Who: 18+ to enter. 21+ to drink
How much: $30 advance (sign up here) or $40 at the door
For Couples: Once at The Orpheum
What is "Once"? Is it a musical? A concert? The answer: both. Once is a Tony-award-winning musical coming to the Orpheum next week. Sure, it's a love story, but really it's about the music. The actors are all musicians playing musicians.
I have heard from several people that it is much better than the movie, that if you like Mumford & Sons/Ray LaMontagne/The Civil Wars, then you will like this show. Also, the music and choreography is less like the traditional musical theatre you may be used to for Broadway shows, so that's something new worth seeing.
P.S. Though I'm listing this as a date night, The Orpheum recommends this for older kids and teens. It's rated "PG-13" for a few adult words and mild innuendo.
For Families: Rock 'n' Romp Season Finale
One of the coolest concert series in Memphis is having its final show of the season weekend after next at Overton Park. Rock 'n' Romp features great Memphis music that grown-ups like in a daytime, kid-friendly show. There's food, beer, and you have to have a kid with you to get in.
On November 1, not only will three really awesome (seriously) local acts perform, but Rock 'n' Romp will release the first-ever Rock 'n' Rock compilation CD from artists featured over the last nine years.
On the bill for the season finale is Marcella and Her Lovers, the Maitre D's, and Triceratops. Head to Overton Park for great music, kid-friendly fun, free food and Memphis Made Beer while it lasts, and pick up a CD.
