Five Minute Food Review: Corn Ice Cream from La Michoacana
Five Minute Food Review: Corn Ice Cream from La Michoacana
In the past year or so, La Michoacana on Summer has become one of my favorite places to go for dessert. Their ice cream is delicious, their strawberries and cream is perfect, and their paletas come in several dozen flavors.
And while La Michoacana serves all of the standard flavors, the best things on the menu are the most exotic. Things like giant cups of corn flavored ice cream.
I had never had corn ice cream before, but I knew it existed and I was feeling brave enough to wave away the tasting spoon and go for a small cup ($2.50).
Even though the cup was tiny, the friendly guy behind the counter managed to sqeeze at least three scoops into it. Thankfully, there aren't any corn kernels in the ice cream - it's just smooth and yellow. It also kind of tastes, on initial impact, like pumpkin pie.
La Michoacana doesn't have corn ice cream every day (everything is homemade and they rotate the flavors), but when they do, you can get a sample spoon before you commit.
