Monday News Update: Thunderstorm Edition
Today in Memphis, we've got thunderstorms, cheap bus rides to Dallas, the #5 zoo in the country and peeks at soon-to-be open downtown spots. Also, there's a sweet story about a dog with a jar stuck on its head.
But first, here's a picture of local musician Myla Smith playing my backyard as part of the "3 Artists, 1 Yard" concert series:
- Let's start the week with something heart warming. Something like this happy-ending story about a dog with a jar stuck on its head.
- In bicycle news: Memphis has joined the National Protected Bike Lane Project, and soon, there's going to be a way to ride from Memphis to Kentucky.
- Good news for fans of cheap rides: Megabus is offering super cheap rides from Memphis to Dallas and Little Rock starting June 19th.
- Attention, artists: the Orpheum is looking for submissions for their 18th annual art auction on June 24th.
- The Memphis Zoo may have lost its #1 Zoo in the Country ranking, but it's still in the top five.
- Aldo's Pizza Pies is seriously, finally about to open for real this time. Here's a peek inside.
- Also opening soon: Beale Street Landing. It's going to be a great civic space, but I'm not quite sure what to make of the proposed elevator design.
As always, if there's something you'd like to see featured on I Love Memphis, submit a tip and I'll check it out.
