How frustrating is it that  there are days in Memphis when the humidity is at 100 percent and it won't rain?

But when it does actually rain, it's glorious. Assignment #163 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to take advantage of the rain and find a porch in a storm.

The sky dims (and if it's a really good storm, turns a little bit green), the rain comes down at weird angles, the wind blows and the temperature and humidity drop back down to reasonable levels, at least for a few minutes.

When I was a kid, it really freaked me out when my dad would insist on standing on the porch during bad thunderstorms. As an adult, I realize that he was on to something. There's no better front row seat for an epic Memphis thunderstorm than your front porch.

I'm not advocating doing anything crazy or stupid, mind you. Please don't go run around in it, and definitely stay clear of trees. What I'm suggesting is grabbing a drink and kicking back for a few minutes and enjoying one of the best parts of summer in Memphis.
