Memphis News Update: a Job Fair, a FourSquare Badge, a Radiothon and a Valentine's Date
Happy Tuesday, everybody. Here's a little bit of local news you can use.
But first, one of the best bumper stickers I've ever seen, on the 'fridge at Patrick's in East Memphis (the "Don't Hassle Me" one, for the record):
- Attention, job seekers. The Great American Steamboat Company is hiring about 300 workers in Memphis. If you'd like to get in on that, they're having a job fair at the Cook Convention Center on Feb. 21 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- If you're still scrambling for a Valentine's Day date idea, the Peabody Hotel and Action News 5 are giving away a pretty sweet package: one night in the Romeo and Juliet suite, dinner for two at Chez Philippe and a 30 minute carriage ride downtown. Enter the contest here.
- The annual Ronald McDonald House Radiothon is coming up Feb. 9 - 10. The Radiothon is the organization's biggest fundraiser, and it covers some of the basic needs of the families that stay at the RMH while undergoing treatment at St. Jude. To donate, call 1-800-230-KIDS on Thursday or Friday of this week, or donate online.
- Want a special Memphis FourSquare badge? We're competing against a ton of other US cities to get one. Here's the list that Memphis has in the running. If you like it, please follow it. It'll up our chances of logging in one day and getting a special local badge.
