365 Things to Do in Memphis #42: Find a 42
Assignment #42 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to find one of the dozens of 42s that are hiding all over the city.
They're by local graffiti artist Nosey, and they're lurking all over the city. You can see some of Nosey's other works on the side of "Whatever" (at Southern and Highland). He's also the artist who painted the first I Love Memphis mural at Cooper and York.

This picture is actually done by someone other than Nosey42. I believe this person has some kind of affiliation with Studio 42 tattoo place in Bartlett. The original 42's were around before Studio 42.

I think 42 is this dude's IQ. Seriously, people are supposed be impressed because you'ver read the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galazy and can spray paint two numbers. Get a life.

I love Memphis, too.
While I appreciate the 'I love Memphis' mural and the work at Whatever, I do not appreciate the tagging done by Nosy 42 all over midtown. There's nothing artistic about simply plastering Nosy 42 or Toby (another prolific tagger) on city and personal property.

well' i have been in enough of this vandalisim to say that in taste the works of art are amazing and i find that Nosey "a young cat by the way" is very talented and the new stuff he has posted on trees and other off the road sites bring a good taste of what graffiti art can do.

Mr 42 is starting to scratch thru other people's art in Memphis for some stupid reason. Curious as to why? Is he getting intimidated by a upcomming artist? Hmmmmm. #MEMPHISNEEDSASMILE

I'm pretty sure the reason there were 42s scratched through the squirrel stencils is because whoever does the squirrels decided it would be a good idea to put them on a well known mural. (which nosy was commissioned for) Whoever is doing the squirrels may want to do their homework on graffiti culture. If you make your mark on someone's mural/production, that's disrespectful.
Many people take photos in front of that mural, I think its CHEAP FAME to try to ride off someone else's hard work so you can be noticed as well. I respect people who want to make art or do what makes them happy. But I know this guy well, and I think anyone who knows him would agree that he put in alot of work in the streets. That's what made him noteworthy, and that's why he was chosen to paint the mural.
"Street Art" has turned into a bunch of hipsters who want to co-exist and make peace and love like a bunch of hippies. I'm pretty sure 'street art' is a spin off of graffiti, so maybe that person needs to do a little homework on the nature of graffiti.
Go nosey, keep doing your thing.
