- Sad news first: former Memphis Tigers basketball coach Gene Bartow passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer. The CA has a ton of biographical information about the legendary coach, but he'll be missed by Tiger fans for the huge mark he made on the program.
- The Memphis Flyer is accepting nominations for their annual Hotties issue. They're looking for hot people of all persuasions and ages, so if you know someone deserving the honor, let the Flyer know by Jan. 31.
- January is National Volunteer Blood Donor Month, and LifeBlood of Memphis is looking for Memphians who have been touched by blood donations to share their stories. Submit your story (and read some seriously heartwarming tales) here.
- Today is the last day to vote for your favorites in the Brooks Museum's "Peaceful Warriors" student art exhibition. Voting ends at 4 p.m., and the winning images will be shown at the Brooks through March.
