Wednesday News: Danny Thomas Stamps, a Big Sale, Free Waxing and Memphis in 1887

It's Wednesday, and I've got a few useful bits of Memphis news for you:

Eight

- If you've got some snail mail to send, you should pay for it with the brand new Danny Thomas forever stamps. They feature the smiling face of the actor and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital founder smiling in front of St. Jude. They go on sale Feb. 16th and are good forever.

- The Lanksy stores at the Peabody are having huge sales this week. Lansky at the Peabody has clothing, shoes and leather jackets on sale 40 percent off. At Lanksy 126, you can pick up shirts, dresses, jeans, shoes and jackets for guys and girls for 30 - 60 percent off. Check out the sale online, but know that they have even more in the store.

- When the European Wax Center opens in east Memphis late next month, all they're going to do during their first week is give free waxes. Seriously. If you'd like to get one, all you have to do is sign up in advance.

- Check out this cool Atlantic Monthly story about Memphis in 1887 as compared to Memphis in 2011.
