Assignment #24 of 365 is to take your kids to see a show at the Orpheum Theatre.

When my parents took me to see a play at the Orpheum for the first time, it felt so special. We got dressed up, ate dinner downtown before the show, and marvelled at the ornate theatre.

If your kids aren't quite ready for a full Broadway production, the Orpheum has an ongoing series of family-friendly shows. Touring childrens theatre troupes bring their shows to Memphis at kid-appropriate times (matinees and early evening shows). Tickets for most shows are priced at $20 or less, which makes it a fairly affordable splurge.
