Mrs C. You caused me to levitate earlier! How so? By finishing-up 'strong' on today's set... 1) S & G "America"; not only haunting in its own right, it was also how Bowie started the Concert for New York. It took both he and the song to new heights. "Kathy, I'm lost," I said, though I knew she was sleeping I'm empty and aching and I don't know why... CLASSIC LYRIC 2) New Pornographers "Silver Jenny Dollar"; anything connected to Neko Case by 6 degrees is quite, quite acceptable... Mamma Mia! 3) Harlan T. BoBo "Zippers and Jeans"; one of the finest jams to roll out of Memphis in decades. Its so funny, you know my reverence for the area and its heritage - regarding the music, I drive my kids crazy incessantly pontificating about it; though, a while back, something clicked... and "Zippers and Jeans" was the song that caused the epiphany. We three jam to Harlan T. everyday... and everyday, its "Zippers and Jeans." I involuntarily levitate so little, that if and when it occurs: I pass along a bit of praise. Bravo. Keep taking care of my town, Kerry! lp
