Bike Lane Drama, a Big Star Documentary, a Trivia Contest and How Forbes Feels About Us Now

365 Memphians - Robin Salant
Artist Robin Salant won a grant from Crosstown Arts to do a big, moving light display in the empty Sears Crosstown Building. She and her team of volunteers have installed solar powered lights, theater grade light gels and moving disco lights inside the building that are visible outside from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. nightly. Robin was photographed in the Sears building in the orangey glow from one of her gels. In other news: - Today's big story is the drama surrounding the Madison Ave. bike lanes. Though the mayor has approved them (and the street has already been prepped for repaving), a few members of the city council are trying to block them. If you can't make it to the council meeting (which is going on now), you can stream it live. - There's going to be a Big Star documentary. It's going to be called "Nothing Can Hurt Me". Check out the trailer:

- Apparently, Forbes is all bout us now: Memphis is on the magazine's list of the top 10 cities for weekend vacations. - Attention, nerds: WEVL is hosting their first ever trivia contest on Oct. 30th at Minglewood Hall. If you want to play, all you need are five friends, $90 (all of which goes to support volunteer radio in Memphis), and to sign up here by Friday.
