Tons of Food News, an Art Park and a Chance to See Columbus's Ships

365 Memphians - Tom Millett
Tom Millett is originally from Boston, but he moved to Memphis two years ago to teach sixth grade math at Fairview. He's with his former students, seventh graders  Antoinette H., Jasmine B., Desten P., and Ronnie J. They're all part of Fairview's Middle College High School program. That means that once they get to ninth grade, they start taking classes at Christian Brothers University. If they take all of the available college classes, they'll graduate high school with enough credits to start college as sophomores. In other news: - It's a big day for Memphis food news. First, downtown's South of Beale is now open daily for lunch. Secondly, Cooper-Young's newest restaurant, Stone Soup, is opening today. They'll be open daily for lunch from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Thirdly, the soon-to-be-open Sweet Life Bakery has posted their menu online. - Reproductions of Christopher Columbus' ships, the Nina and the Pinta, will be docking in Memphis from Oct. 14th - 23rd. They'll be open for tours, and I promise, you'll want to go. My parents took me to see them when I was a kid, and I was amazed by how tiny they were. - Smart City Memphis has a great post about the proposed downtown Art Park.

I loved seeing the Nina and Pinta when I was little. They indeed are super small but I am super excited about this proposed Downtown Art Park!!!
