365 Memphians - Kathleen Starita
Kathleen Starita is originally from Venezuela, but she's called Memphis home since 2004. She's the photo editor for La Onda, a Hispanic entertainment and culture magazine based in Memphis. She wanted me to mention that La Onda is looking for local contributors to write entertainment and arts articles for the magazine. To get more info about contributing, contact La Onda. In other news: - There are just about 100 days of 365 Memphians left. If you'd like to have your photo taken for the series, I'm having a photo shoot day on Oct. 7th from 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. at Emerge Memphis. If you'd like to be a part of Photo Shoot Day, all you have to do is email me and let me know when you'd like to come by. Props and friends are encouraged. - The Redbirds might not be going to this year's playoffs, but they're already looking forward to next season. The Redbirds' 13th season will start on April 13th, 2012 at AutoZone Park. If you'd like season tickets for next year, you can order them now. - In other sports news, congrats to Grizz - he was named the NBA's 2011 Mascot of the Year. Grit, grind! - The Cove, Broad Ave.'s beloved little nautically-themed watering hole, is going to be featured on the Cooking Channel's "Foodography" tonight at 8 p.m. Now the rest of the country will know the power of their cocktails and oysters.
