Attention, budget fashionistas - there's a magical place in east Memphis where both your high-end tastes and thin wallet can be satisfied. Celery is located in an appropriately celery colored converted house on Brookhaven Circle in East Memphis. They bill themselves as an "upscale ladies resale" boutique, which means that when people are done with their designer goods, they can bring them to Celery to sell on consignment. When I heard "upscale ladies resale", I was hesitant. I had a mental image of racks of pantsuits, blouses and crazy shoes. Celery proved me wrong, though - there are some amazing steals tucked into the racks. Think of it as a very classy, well organized version of thrift shopping - you might have to dig a little bit, but if you do, you'll be rewarded with great deals on high-end clothing. Celery managed to mitigate my hatred of shopping by appealing to my love of surprises. When I was there a few nights ago, I went home with a pair of almost new knee-high oxblood Frye boots for $60. When you go to Celery, make sure you pick up a sale sheet from the counter. They list what color tags are on sale that day. Thanks to the sale sheet, I scored a pair of perfect, 60 percent off skinny jeans (incidentally, the only pants I've ever owned that have been the right length). Celery is open Monday - Saturday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Every Wednesday night, they have a happy hour from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with wine, snacks and special sales.
