Memphis Mystery Train Set List: August 4, 2011
Memphis Mystery Train Set List: August 4, 2011
I had a special guest on the Mystery Train this morning - cellist Jonathan Kirkscey came on the show this morning to play his five favorite songs. In addition to teaching and composing, Jonathan plays with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra as well as Mouse Rocket, Glorie and Harlan T. Bobo.
(Sorry I forgot to get a picture of him - it was early, and I spaced it because we got to talking.)
I'm trying something new this week - I got a Spotify account, and I'm building playlists for the Mystery Train. You won't always be able to listen to every song, but you can at least hear most of the show if you missed it. You do have to have an account to listen. Here's this week's playlist on Spotify.
Here's what I played on the show this morning, with the local tracks noted with an asterisk:
Paul Robeson - Summertime
The Egyptians - Party Stomp
Cee-lo Green - You're So Square (Baby, I Don't Care)

Amazing show. Any chance you will post the playlist for the radio spot you filled in for the day after this show? I know its not MMT but there was one song you played I can not find anywhere.

I remember it was two songs after arcade fire. It was an upbeat girl vocals and the phrase "maybe its best if I stayed away from the west". I know that's not much to go on sorry
