Memphis Mystery Train Set List: Aug. 18, 2011

Today's Memphis Mystery Train was a super special one, mostly because I had my first ever in-studio performance today. Fille Catatonique at WEVL Fille Catatonique (aka Marcella Rene Simien) came to the studio today to play a few songs and turn my usually solitary morning show into a big barefoot party. Also, Dr. Harold Toboggans came by to challenge me to spaghetti wrestling at Rock for Love tomorrow night, but that's a whole other thing. Here's what I played this week, with the local tracks marked with an asterisk: Belle and Sebastian - The State I Am In Egyptians - The Party Stomp Camera Obscura - The Sweetest Thing Bobby Fuller Four - Only When I Dream Jonathan Richman - Parties in the USA *Perfect Vessels - Running Out of Time English Beat - Save It for Later The Features - The Idea of Growing Old Los Straitjackets - La Suegra Beck - Tropicalia The Clash - Janie Jones Wanda Jackson - It Doesn't Matter Anymore Black Angels - Sunday Afternoon *Roy Orbison - Only the Lonely *Billy Lee Riley - Red Hot The Hold Steady - Adderall Langhorne Slim - Say Yes New Pornographers - Broken Breads Bjork - It's Oh So Quiet The Ramones - Danny Says Sufjan Stevens - Henney Buggy Band *Jack O. and the Tennessee Tearjerkers - I Live for Today Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - Home Those Darlins - Who's That Knockin' at My Window Arrah and the Ferns - Apple for Evan Barry Louis Polisar - All I Want Is You Feist - Sea Lion Woman Jens Lekman - I Saw Her at the Anti-War Demonstration Julian Casablancas - Out of the Blue Esquerita - Didn't It Rain If you missed today's show, you can listen every Thursday morning from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. one 89.9 FM in Memphis or stream the show at WEVL.org.
