Meet Barry Wolverton. He's showing off the novel he wrote for young readers called "Neversink". When he's not writing books, the Rhodes College graduate works as a copy writer at Baptist Memorial. His book comes out in March of next year through Walden Pond Press.

- Have you seen P. Funk's guitar? Someone snagged one of the guitars from George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic's bus at Shelby Farms on Saturday night. If you have any idea where it is, or know someone who does, call (901) 568-5645.
- Attention, Elvis fans (and beer fans): The Flying Saucer is having a special Elvis glass night tomorrow night at both locations. There will be a small charge for the limited-edition glass, but you get to take it home at the end of the night. It starts at 7 p.m., but you'll want to get there early to be sure you get a glass.
- Goner Records has officially announced the schedule for Gonerfest 8 in September. Go ahead and start getting excited about the Gories, True Sons of Thunder, Jack Oblivian, the Alarm Clocks and more.
- Everybody, give a big friendly welcome to the Great American Steamboat Company. They're moving their headquarters to downtown Memphis and starting cruises on their 436 bed American Queen (that will leave from Downtown) in April, 2012.
- Rest in peace, Las Savell. The jeweler, who was known for his "____ makes Memphis a better place" sign at the corner of Union and McLean died on Sunday after a long illness.

Sorry to hear Las Savell passed away. I've passed that sign hundreds of times and always thought of something that "makes Memphis a better place". If I had friends in the car we would try to better each other.
