5 Things to Do in Memphis This Weekend: 8/5 - 8/7
Happy Friday, Memphis! There's tons going on in town this weekend, but you can't go wrong with this top five list:
1. The Price is Right Art Show, David Lusk Gallery, Friday, 6 p.m., free
This is the perfect show show for anyone who loves art, but doesn't think they can afford it. Everything in the annual Price is Right art show is $1000 or less. The show features works by local artists including Clare Torina, Hamlett Dobbins, Alan Duckworth and more. The opening for the show is tonight from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m., and you can preview the pieces online.
2. Gone With the Wind, Orpheum Theatre, Friday, 7:15 p.m., $7
Finally! An occasion to wear that hoop skirt you bought on a whim. The Orpheum is showing "Gone With the Wind" tonight as part of their summer movie series. The 1939 adaptation of Margaret Mitchell's book stars Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable and a house called Tara.
3. Acrassicauda with These Wolves Are Robots and Dead Twin, Hi-Tone Cafe, Friday, 9 p.m., $10
If you love metal, you need to be at the Hi-Tone tonight, because tonight is your one opportunity (at least for the forseeable future) to see Acrassicauda. The band, which is from Iraq (they were featured in the movie "Heavy Metal in Baghdad"), is on their first-ever tour. They'll play with local act Dead Twin, who are worth seeing for the keytar alone. Cover is $10, and doors are at 9 p.m. with the show starting around 10 p.m.
4. Cycle Memphis Ride 2, Cooper-Young Gazeebo, Saturday, 8 p.m., free
Cycle Memphis is making their public rides a monthly date. Saturday's ride will leave from the gazeebo at the corner of Cooper and Young. The ride will be a moderate pace 15 miles with a break in the middle. The ride organizers say that you should bring good attitudes, drinks, a bike light and a repair kit. Also, if you have a trailer with a stereo, it's more than welcome.
5. Dog Days of August, Memphis Botanic Garden, Sunday, 4 p.m., $7.50 - $10
Leash up your dog and bring your family to the Botanic Gardens for the Dog Days of August. They'll have a dog contest with four categories for entry, pet portraits and - this is the best part - a pool play area where your pup can cool off. The proceeds from the event go to the Memphis Botanic Garden and to participating local dog rescues (like the Humane Society).
As always, if none of these events are your thing, there are tons more on the calendar. No matter what you do this weekend, I hope you have an awesome time. Come back and tell me about it on Monday.

Thanks for replying! I just heard about it on the radio mainly. I think this year was the 3rd annual one.
Thank you for all that you do.
