A Band of Sirens, an Electric Car Charger, National Fried Chicken Day and Classes in Metal!
Meet the lovely ladies of Riva - Abby Walsh, Katie Walsh, Candice Goff and Amanda McGee (not pictured: Tiffany Williams, Nura Meyers). They're Memphis' only all-female a capella singing group.
Take a listen: Riva Memphis
If you're interested in joining this band of sirens, Riva is holding auditions on July 24th at 3 p.m. at the Clark Opera Memphis center.
In other news:
- Happy national fried chicken day, Memphis! I recommend getting friends and celebrating with an 8 piece family meal from Gus's, some sweet and spicy love from Uncle Lou's, or a Homeroom Chicken and Grids sandwich from Lunchbox Eats.
- The National Ornamental Metal Museum just announced a bunch of new metalworking classes for 2011 / 2012. If you've always wanted to learn blacksmithing, sand casting, and how to knit with wire, they can help you with that.
- Memphis' first electric car charging station will be unveiled this afternoon at the Peabody Hotel. It's the first of 60 stations that are going to be placed in public locations as part of the EV Project.
