5 Things to Do In Memphis This Weekend: 7/22 - 7/24
5 Things to Do In Memphis This Weekend: 7/22 - 7/24
Happy Friday, Memphis! Rise up against the oppressive heat and get out to one of my top five weekend events:
1. Memphis Heat screening, Orpheum Theatre, Friday, 7:15 p.m., $7
The Orpheum is showing "Memphis Heat", a locally made documentary about Memphis wrestling, as part of their Memphis Film Series. The movie will be shown, there will be live organ music and previews, and there will be an introduction of some of the people featured in the film, like Jerry Lawler and Dave Brown.
2. V3 Fights, FedExForum lobby, Friday, 7 p.m., $20
Memphis-based mixed martial arts circuit V3 Fights is bringing their show back to the FedExForum lobby tonight. There will be 10 fights tonight, culminating in the crowning of V3's "Fighter of the Year". A portion of each ticket will be donated to the Officer Tim Warren Memorial Fund.
3. Lord T. and Eloise, Minglewood Hall, Friday, 9 p.m., $18
Lord T. and Eloise - Memphis' favorite Aristocrunk rappers - are playing the Ice Box Party at Minglewood Hall tonight. They'll be accompanied by Eric Gales, Glitch Doctor, Tanks, Memphis Feel-harmonic and Kaleideophoix. It's an all-ages show and the AC will be set on low.
4. Huey Lewis and the News, Memphis Botanic Garden, Friday, 6 p.m., $44
Hit up the Fresh Market and pack up some fancy cheese and a bottle of wine - Huey Lewis and the News are playing at Live at the Garden tonight. All of the table seats are sold out, but I always preferred to picnic on the lawn. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the show starts around 7.
5. Blues on the Bluff, National Ornamental Metal Museum, Saturday, 6 p.m., $15
If you love the blues, and you love volunteer radio (especially my show), get to the Metal Museum for WEVL's annual Blues on the Bluff concert. Blind Mississippi Morris, the Bo-Keys and Lightnin' Malcom are playing, there's Central Barbecue for sale, a slient auction, and the view of the sunset over the Mississippi is the best in town.
As always, if none of these events are your thing, you can find plenty more on the calendar. And no matter what you do this weekend I hope you have a fabulous time.

Can I Live Weekend???
Literally thousands (possibly tens of thousands) of people participating in it and you don't bother mention it.
At least you could have mentioned k97 summer jam, that's downtown which is close to midtown...
