The Saucer Goes Smoke Free, Dylan Plays Mud Island, and Craig Brewer Takes on Tarzan

365 Memphians - Jamie Harmon
Jamie is an artist, photographer and native Memphian. You can find him taking pictures of passengers on downtown river boats or in his trailer full of awesome, the Amurica Photobooth. In other news: - Good news, non-smokers. The downtown Flying Saucer is going completely smoke-free on July 1st. Techinically, this means that they could go all-ages, but there's no word yet on whether or not they will. - The Mud Island Amphitheatre is getting a huge show this summer: Bob Dylan will play on the outdoor stage on July 30th with opening act Leon Russel. Tickets go on sale on Friday, June 10th at 10 a.m. and will cost $39.50 - $69.50. - Fresh off of Footloose, Memphis-based writer and director Craig Brewer is set to take on Tarzan. He pitched an updated (but still classic) version of the film to Warner Brothers, and if it gets the go-ahead, it'll likely be Brewer's biggest project to date.

This is great news about the Saucer! The absolute disgusting smell was the main reason I quit going. Now, I have a four month old, so I am still not sure if I will go back. If it becomes all ages, there is a good chance we will stop in before Tigers games.

So sad about the Saucer. =( I know one of the managers that works at the Cordova location and he said they were going to be smoke free as well.
