A World Record, A New Film Studio and More Congrats for BTWHS,
The lovely and talented Amy Gregory is an aesthetician (read: waxer) at Hi Gorgeous salon. She's also known to completely rock karaoke nights all over town with her renditions of "Shoop" and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light".
In other news:
- Booker T. Washington High School is blowing up lately. Last month, they won a special commencement address from President Obama. Today, two of their 2011 graduates will be on BET's show "106 & Park" at 6 p.m. After the show, there will be a half hour special about BTWHS winning Obama's challenge.
- You've got three more days to vote for your favorite designs for more I Love Memphis murals. Voting closes at 12 p.m. on Friday afternoon, and the three designs with the most votes will be paired with artists to create their murals.
- Break out your floaties: with public pools opening next week, the city of Memphis is going to attempt to break the world record for the largest swimming lesson. If you'd like to be a part of it, come to Bickford Swimming Pool at 235 Henry Avenue on Tuesday, June 14th at 9:45 a.m. It's free.
- Ardent Studios is known for their legendary record releases, and now, the studio is expanding. They're launching a film department this week. They're having a launch party on Thursday evening at their offices on Madison at 6 p.m.
