A New Grizzly, a Restaurant Closing, A Jay Reatard Documentary and a Guy Who Lives in His Van

365 Memphians - Jay Bfaffman
Jay Bfaffman lives in his van. After his house burned down and he lost his job teaching at UT Knoxville, Jay moved into this VW van and started exploring. He was in Memphis for a few days last week before heading to St. Louis, Mo. You can follow his adventures on his blog, I Live in My Van. In other news: - Congratulations to Josh Selby, the newest Grizzly. He came to the Grizz through last week's draft, and so far, the 20 year-old, 6'3 guard is fitting in nicely. We can't wait to see you on the court in the fall, Josh! - Pour one out for Thyme Bistro. The year-old East Memphis restaurant closed over the weekend. Thomas from Eat Local Memphis has a tribute (and a few words about the importance of eating local). - Attention, Jay Reatard fans - there's a new documentary about the late Memphis punk rocker. "Better than Something" is a mix of interviews, live footage and archival footage that's currently being shopped to film festivals. Here's the trailer: - I added a few more items to the Fourth of July events post that I ran last week. If you know of any public events or fireworks displays that should be added to the list, email me.
