Storms, Free Downtown Wi-Fi, Free Pink Palace Membership and Three Days Left to Send Me Your Mural
Cassandra Taylor is the convention services director at the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau (which makes her my co-worker). Here she is, taping her Grizzlies-inspired reason to love Memphis to the I Love Memphis mural in Cooper-Young.
In other news:
- There are severe storms predicted for Memphis tonight. They're supposed to start this afternoon as scattered thunderstorms and continue into this evening, bringing all sorts of unpleasantness - think hail, wind, possible tornadoes - to the Mid-South. Careful, everybody.
- The Pink Palace is offering free summer memberships to the Pink Palace and Lichterman Nature Center. All you have to do is sign up online by the end of May. They'll email you a printable membership card that you can use all summer long.
- If you're on the search for public Wi-Fi in downtown Memphis, you're in luck. The Memphis Chamber turned on their M-Spot this afternoon. It's on the north side of the Falls building downtown (at Front and Court). There are some chairs and tables, and the wireless is completely free.
- Aspiring muralists, take note: you've only got three more days to submit your design for the I Love Memphis mural contest. You don't have to have any practical experience in murals. All you have to do is send a JPG or PDF of your design to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 27th.
