Almost Cresting Flood Update, U of M Graduates and a White Out at the Forum

365 Memphians: Chris Vernon
Chris Vernon is the host of the "Chris Vernon Show" on 730 Fox Sports radio every day from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. He's also the guy who's been making and selling the awesome Tony Allen and Zach Randolph t-shirts outside of the FedExForum before Grizzlies games. In other news: - Flood Update: The Mississippi River is now expected to crest tomorrow at 48 feet. For those of you visiting Memphis this week (or concerned about the city from afar), don't worry - the airport, all tourist attractions (barring Mud Island), downtown and all of the cities' hotels are safe from flooding. A few neighborhoods (mostly along the Wolf River) have been evacuated, but it's not as widespread as a lot of coverage is making it seem. - In other flood-related news, people in Memphis can't stop taking pictures of the rising river. Also, the Tom Lee memorial in Tom Lee park is oddly appropriate now. - Congratulations and good luck to the 2,170 people who graduated from the University of Memphis this year. The class of 2011 is the largest in the University's 100-year history. - If you're headed to the Grizzlies' game tonight, be advised that the FedExForum is under white-out conditions. Meaning, wear a white t-shirt. And, go Grizz!

Thank god for your information, we are due to leave Aberdeen, Scotland on Wednesday 18th May for two weeks at the Days Inn Graceland and was so frightened that we would not be allowed to travel due to the extensive flooding in Memphis. This is a lifetime trip for my sister who has just celebrated her 70th birthday and is a lifelong fan of the king (her bedroom is a shrine to him), so her disappointment would have been heart breaking for me.
