A Grindfest, a Flood Crest, a Big Story on GonerFest and Mural Progress

365 Memphians - Brandon Marshall

Meet Brandon Marshall, the muralist who is painting the very first of the I Love Memphis murals in Cooper Young. Did I mention that it's going to be bright red?

Come see the finished mural (and meet Brandon) on Thursday at the mural launch party.

In other news:

- Flood Update: The Mississippi River crested in Memphis last night at 47.85 feet, but the water will probably stick around until the end of the month. WMC-TV 5 is having a fundraiser for flood victims today in the parking lot of their studio at 1960 Union Ave. Also, don't get out your water pistols yet - despite what you may be hearing from the national media, the entire city isn't underwater.

- The entire city is exhausted today after last night's epic, triple-overtime grindfest. The Grizzlies - Thunder series is now tied 2-2, with the next game in Oklahoma City tomorrow night. Tickets for game six in Memphis go on sale at noon today.

- Congratulations to the guys at Goner Records for the huge profile of the label on eMusic. The article tells the very Memphis story of the label/store/festival and has some fun facts about some of the Goner bands.
