Memphis Mystery Train Playlist, 4/14
This morning, I hosted my very first Memphis Mystery Train on WEVL (89.9 Memphis). I'm taking over for the old host, John, who moved to China to take a job. You may have gotten John's couch or crock pot, but I got his radio show.
If you want to listen in, the Mystery Train is every Thursday morning from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Here's what I played today, with the made-in-Memphis tracks noted with an asterisk:
Hour 1
The Egyptians - The Party Stomp
Jens Lekman - I Saw Her at the Anti-War Demonstration
*Barbara Pittman - Everlasting Love
Elvis Perkins - I Heard Your Voice in Dresden
*Jack O. and the Tennessee Tearjerkers - Chills and Fever
Tom Waits - Way Down in the Hole
The Magnetic Fields - California Girls
Gino Washington - I'll Be Around When You Want Me
Wanda Jackson - Don'a Wanna
Patty and the Emblems - Mixed Up Shook Up Girl
*Al Green - I Want To Hold Your Hand
Arrah and the Ferns - Bernadette
Hour 2
*Reigning Sound - Tennessee
Carolina Chocolate Drops - Hit 'Em Up Style
Those Darlins - Be Your Bro
Yo La Tengo - Emulsified
Rilo Kiley - Science vs. Romance
Silver Jews - Let's Not and Say We Did
Eileen - These Boots Are Made for Walkin'
Billy Bragg - Greetings to the New Brunette
*Jay Reatard - There Is No Sun
*Oblivians - Bad Man
The Pinups - Lookin' for Boys
Why - Sand Dollars
Okkervil River - O Dana
Esquerita - Didn't It Rain
Thanks again to everyone who called in and pledged today - you made my first day special, and the station raised more than $1000 during the show.

Kerry, I caught your program on Friday the 27th, and you just got another passenger for the Mystery Train.
This playlist has my favorite Rilo Kiley song alongside my favorite Al Green cover. Definitely worth dragging myself up an extra hour early on Thursdays.
