Get on a Rooftop, Go to the Playoffs and Help Fund a Blues Documentary
Adorably pink-haired Kat Gordon is the owner of Muddy's Bakeshop. Every single one of her cupcakes, cakes, cookies and bars is amazing, but I especially love the red velvet cupcakes, the citrus explosion cupcakes and the honey rosemary cookies. Nom, nom, nom.
In other news:
- The Grizzlies lost to the Clippers last night, which means that they'll face San Antonio in the first round of the playoffs. The Grizz are 8th-seeded and the Spurs are 1st-seeded, so a major upset could be in order. Their series with the Spurs starts in San Antonio at noon on Sunday.
- It's the last day to contribute to Kickstarter funding for local documentary project "This Is Why We Still Sing The Blues". Memphian Lee Gordon is directing this expose about the record industry's treatment of blues legends, and the musicians' continuing struggle to get paid for their work.
- New public art alert! Giant metal trees designed by Tim Upham are being erected at University Place at Crump and I-240. Weeden Arts Watch has pictures.
- If you're looking for something to do tonight, it's the start of rooftop party season at the Peabody Hotel. Cover is $10 (and includes one drink), but if you're a lady and you get there before 7 p.m., you get in free. Tonight's music is Finger Eleven and the Beale St. Flippers and Drumline.
