Downtown Road Closures, a Flood Update and a Fun Volunteer Opportunity
Anna Avant owns Hoot and Louise, an adorable boutique in South Main that carries vintage clothing, clothes by hard-to-find designers, jewelry and handmade housewares.
In other news:
- If you're headed downtown tonight, there are a few things to be aware of before you go. 1) More than 110,000 people are expected downtown tonight for the Grizzlies game, BSMF and Trolley Tour. 2) There are several road closures including most of Riverside Dr., Third St. from Linden to Peabody, and the block of Madison between Main and Second. Make a parking plan before you go, and consider parking on Madison and taking the trolley downtown.
- Here's your semi-daily flood update: The Mississippi River is expected to crest on May 8. Most of the city won't be affected, but the Memphis in May festivities may encounter some problems. Conditions should be fine for the Beale St. Music Festival, but Memphis in May has released a statement that says that there's a chance that Barbecue Fest will have to be relocated, though they're not sure yet.
- Meanwhile in East Memphis, the Wolf River runneth over onto the CBHS football field. (Thanks to Dave R. for the photo.)
- If you're looking for something to do this summer (and a way to see tons of free music), the Levitt Shell is looking for volunteers. They're having an orientation tomorrow at the Shell from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
