A Tornado Watch, a New Tiger, the Outfit of the Day Special and Safer Street Crossings at the U of M
Dana is the force behind Afters Boutique, a handmade candy company that she runs out of her house. Everything she makes is tasty, but if you only try one thing, make it the cake balls.
In other news: - Memphis (as well as large portions of eastern Arkansas and north Mississippi) is under a tornado watch until 5 p.m. today. Nothing's happened yet, but the radar is showing a lot of big read splotches moving this way. Be careful out there. - The University of Memphis is (finally!) working with the city to make it safer for students to cross Central on their way to class. Work on the $5.5 million plan will start on May 9th. Now, if only they could do something about the trains. - If you need a reason to start counting the days until Tiger Basketball starts again, here's one: junior college center Stan Simpson has committed to the University of Memphis. - South Main boutique Hoot + Louise has started posting an "outfit of the day" special to Facebook. Think of it like a clothing version of a restaurant special - they show you the outfit of the day, and anyone who buys it gets 30 percent off.

I thought maybe they were going to build a bridge, but those are actually pretty good ideas for the U of M crossing.

I'm all for making Central safer (although teaching people not to just step out into the street on their phones would help too!), but why can't they spend $100 dollars painting at least a crosswalk on Southern and maybe reducing the speed limit, or even putting in a light at one of the intersections down there? A lot of people park in the general parking on that side of campus, especially if they have classes in the buildings on that side, and that street is crazy dangerous.
