Start Your Sunday Afternoon Off Right With SOB's Brunch
Sunday mornings can be tough. Maybe you stayed out a little too late on Saturday night, or you don't have time to eat before you head to church. Maybe you're craving breakfast food well after the normal breakfast food cut-off.
Hence, brunch. And if you're in Memphis, most restaurants have the decency to serve it until at least 3 p.m.
After a Saturday night that extended well into Sunday morning, I was craving a big post-noon breakfast. I wound up at South of Beale.
The menu has a lot of delicious-sounding items - steak and eggs, a breakfast bar pie (sort of like a breakfast pizza), the S.O.B. burger, shrimp and grits and pork chops.
I went with a plate of French toast and one of the $3 mimosas. The toast was some of the best I've had in Memphis. The cinnamon bread was soft, but not soggy, and the macerated berries and homemade whipped cream added enough sweetness that syrup was unnecessary.
