Sophorn McRae, photographed in Court Square.

Sophorn is an incredibly talented designer, photographer and blogger (who also has a great sense of style). She’s one of the organizers of Foodie Memphis, a tasting dinner that happens at a different local restaurant every month.

In other news:

– Elvis Week (birth week, mind you) is upon us – here’s a full list of all of the week’s special events.

– Those of you with serious gumbo skills should enter the Tennessee Equality Project’s gumbo cooking competition. Anyone can enter, and the competition is open to teams and individuals. It’s not until late February, so you’ve got plenty of time to perfect your recipe.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
