Christmas is a Battlefield, the Rain is Freezing and Records are for Good Causes
Christmas is a Battlefield, the Rain is Freezing and Records are for Good Causes
At night, all of the inflatable holiday critters in this yard at the end of my street are standing upright, overfilling the yard with glee. During the day, their motors aren't running, giving the yard the look of a post-holiday battlefield. It's also important to note that there are barely any lights on the actual house. And yes, that is a projector screen.
In other news:
- It's cold. Stupid cold. Tonight, there's a 40 percent chance of freezing rain, which could lead to ice after midnight and tomorrow morning. Be careful driving. If driving on ice freaks you out, check out this helpful guide from my friends over at Nashvillest.
- In happy basketball news, the Grizzlies beat the Blazers 86-73 last night. Yay! In sad basketball news, the Tigers bench is looking a little thin for their Thursday game against Austin Peay - Wesley Witherspoon and D.J. Stephens are out with injuries, and Angel Garcia is leaving the U of M to play pro ball in Spain.
- If you're still looking for that perfect gift for someone, Goner Records is selling a limited edition copy of the White Stripes' "White Blood Cells" for $50. Proceeds from the sale of the record (which was recorded in Memphis at Easley McCain) will go to the Soulsville Charter School. There are only 100 copies of the record available, so get thee to Goner.
- Ways to warm up tonight that don't involve standing on your floor grates wearing a Snuggie: Trivia at the P&H and the Cove, the Foodie Memphis dinner at Alex's Tavern, and $5 beer bust at the Hi-Tone with me as your DJ.

I really dislike those inflatable decorations. Not only do they turn into blobs like you show, but they are so big and impersonal, they really should be in front of a used car lot. I am seeing far fewer of them this year, so at least there's that!
