Beer Tasting Tickets, a Temporary Skate Park, and Another Bookstore Closing
Railings on the Peabody Hotel roof at dusk.
In other news:
- It's a tough time for bookstores. First, Bookstar announced that they're closing their Poplar Plaza store, and then Davis Kidd announced that they were closing stores in Nashville and Cleveland (the Memphis store is safe). To add to the list, the English Major bookstore in midtown is closing. The tiny used bookshop next to the Lamplighter is having a going out of business sale until Nov. 30th, Tuesday - Thursday from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
- Tickets are on sale for the Winter Warmer beer tasting at Central Station on January 15th. The tickets are $33, and there are 800 available. Your ticket gets you samples from an impressive list of local and commercial brewers.
- Bring your skateboards, roller skates and bikes to the New Face for an Old Broad event this weekend - Skatelife Memphis is setting up a temporary skate park, and there will be bike lanes on the street.
