5 Things to Do in Memphis This Weekend: 11/19 - 11/21
Happy Friday, Memphis! There's a weekend between you and tons of turkey and dressing. Here are five ways to get out and about before you get completely stuffed:
1. 61st Annual Bazaar, Memphis College of Art, Friday, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., free
Get started on your holiday shopping early at the annual Memphis College of Art Bazaar. MCA students will be selling their work in the college's main gallery. There's something for everyone - handmade Christmas ornaments, hand-bound books, paintings, drawings, sculptures and decorative arts. Most of the pieces are fairly inexpensive, but they go fast.
2. New Face for an Old Broad, Broad Ave., 3 p.m. Friday - 10 p.m. Saturday, free
The Broad Ave. arts district is getting a temporary face lift this weekend. The street is being turned into a model urban street. There will be bike lanes, a skate park, live music, a bicycle parade, and plenty of food and beer. Pop-up shops (one of which is peddling happiness) are going to fill empty storefronts. If you want to stop and say hi to me, I'll be DJ-ing at the Happiness shop from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. tomorrow.
3. Graceland Holiday Lighting Ceremony, Graceland, Friday, 6 p.m., free
