This kudzu-covered utility pole totally looks like a giraffe.

In other news:
- One of the Flyer's reporters, Mary Cashiola, posted some photos from inside the Sears Crosstown building in Midtown. The ginormous building on Watkins has been empty and closed for a long time. I'm totally jealous - I live right in front of it, and I've always wanted to go inside. I'm still hoping that it can be turned into something incredible.
- Congratulations to the Grizzlies! They won both of the preseason games they've played this week (against Indiana and Atlanta). In other sports news, Memphis Roller Derby's travel team, the Hustlin' Rollers, is in Lincoln, Nebraska for WFTDA regionals. They lost their first game this morning (to Houston), but they play again later in the weekend.

We are Evergreeners and live walking distance from the Sears building. I would love to see something great happen with the Tower. It would be feasible if the large warehouse portion were demolished and the front tower and section remained.

The Sears building looks more finished inside than I expected. Do you know when it closed, Kerri?

Huh. This story in the CA from 2008 says it closed 15 years before. That would be...hold on. Let me get my calculator...1993. Which blows me away because I moved to Memphis in 1986 and I don't remember it ever being open. I'm not questioning their fact checking, I just assumed it had "always" been closed.

Kalisa,
I'm the same way (I was born in 1984). I've got a friends a few years older than I am that remember going there.
