Soulsville U.S.A., Urban Outfitters Opens, and Ways You Can Tell You're So Memphis
I love this Soulsville U.S.A. sign mounted on the roof of the Stax Academy in South Memphis.
In other news:
- Hipsters rejoice - Memphis is getting it's very first Urban Outfitters. It's going to be located in the big empty building at the corner of Central and Cooper in Midtown. The shop, which carries clothing, t-shirts, books and home decor is slated to open on March 15, 2011.
- Every year, the Nashville Scene (their equivalent of the Flyer) posts a list of reader-submitted responses to the prompt "You're So Nashville if...". Memphis totally needs one of those, right? Blogger Lindsey T. thought so, too and started collecting responses yesterday. You can read some of the responses on her blog. My personal favorite is "You're so Memphis if you serve your guests drinks out of old plastic cups from Young Avenue Deli & Central BBQ" (submitted by @badlights). If you've got more, I'd love to hear them.

I admit shamefully that I have a full set of Central BBQ cups that I bring out on the regular basis!!

You're so Memphis if you couldn't tell someone what a viaduct is, but you can tell them where it is....this might qualify as you're so OLD Memphis, but what the heck.

You know the difference between the "old bridge" and the "new bridge" even if the new bridge is old.
