USA! USA! - Memphis Independence Day Events

The Fourth of July may still be a few weeks away, but it's never too early to make a plan. Break out your red, white, and blue and get ready to celebrate Independence Day, Memphis style.

If fireworks are your favorite part of the Fourth, you've got options all over town: - Red White and Blue Ribbon Celebration at Handy Park: Live music will start at 6 p.m., and the fireworks will start at 10 p.m. - Germantown Fireworks Extravaganza: Go to Municipal Park in Germantown on the Fourth at 5 p.m. for this annual free event with music, crafts, moon bounces and fireworks at 9:10 p.m. - Collierville Fireworks Celebration: Bring a lawn chair to H.W. Cox Park in Collierville. Before the fireworks (at 10 p.m.), there will be live music, games, and a performance by the Screaming Eagles parachute team. The event starts at 5:30 on July 3rd. - 2010 Bartlett Fireworks Extravaganza: Bartlett is also getting a jump on the Fourth - their celebration is at 6:30 on July 3rd. They'll have fireworks, a car show, face painting, and live music. - Flag City Freedom Celebration: Pack a picnic for the fireworks celebration at Navy Lake in Millington on July 3rd. The event starts at 5 p.m., and the Navy band will play. - Go to Autozone Park on July 3rd at 6 p.m. for nine innings of Memphis Redbirds minor league baseball. After the game, stick around for fireworks. If you present a military ID at the box office, you'll get $1 off of your ticket. If you're looking for something a little less explosive, try these Independence Day events: - Those with small children should check out the  Children's Museum's Fourth of July scavenger hunt on July 4th at 3 p.m. Kids will be sent on missions through the museum to find clues and complete tasks for prizes. - Go to the Circuit Playhouse to see their production of "Red, White and Tuna", a funny show that follows the residents of Tuna, Texas as they celebrate the Fourth of July. The entire town is played by a cast of two.

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays and events. I think this year I will be going to at least three if not four Fourth of July events including participating in an event benefiting Cerebral Palsy on the day of the Fourth with my scentsy booth. All these events are fun and free for families and the firework displays are awesome!
