5 Things to Do in Memphis This Weekend: 6/25 - 6/27

5 Things to Do in Memphis This Weekend: 6/25 - 6/27

Happy Friday! Now, get out and do something.

1. Watchpaper with Short in the Sleeve, Otherlands, Friday, 8 p.m., $5

Watchpaper at Otherlands

I love shows at Otherlands - they're fun, but generally pretty low key. The venue is also all-ages (it's a coffee shop, but they serve beer). Tonight, local piano-pop trio Watchpaper is playing with Short in the Sleeve, a folk-pop band.

2. Rocky Horror Picture Show, Evergreen Theatre, Friday, 8 p.m., $10

Make some toast and get ready to do the Timewarp, but please leave the hotdogs and prunes at home. Evergreen Theatre is going to show Rocky Horror Picture show tonight with "nearly full audience participation". There will be a costume contest before the movie rolls. (Also, the theater is in talks to bring the movie back on a monthly basis at its traditional midnight time slot.)

3. Watch the USA in the World Cup, bars all over town, 1:30 p.m., Saturday

Thanks to a very impressive goal by Landon Donovan, the USA advanced to round 2 in the World Cup. Their next game is tomorrow morning at 11 a.m., and bars all over town are going to show the game. Bardog Tavern will have $3 Guiness during the game and Majestic Grille has drink specials and a full brunch menu. You can also catch the game at Calhoun's and Young Ave. Deli.

4. Revolutionary Runway: Welcome to the Jungle, Senses, Saturday, 8 p.m., $10

Revolutionary Runway is a series of fashion shows featuring models strutting the runway in clothes from Memphis designers. After the show, all of the pieces are for sale online. This weekend is the 6th show in the series, and the theme is "Welcome to the Jungle". Feel free to dress to the theme, or not.

5. I Art Memphis, Peabody Park, Saturday, 7 p.m., free

There's a free concert at Peabody Park tomorrow night with Rob Blackledge and Caleb Sigler to kick off "I Art Memphis", a series of family-friendly interactive art events in Midtown parks.

Thanks! I think I confused the time the bars were opening with the time of the game. It's fixed.
