I snapped today's Project 365 photo while sitting on a ledge near the Cook Convention Center while listening to a nice guy from Milwaukee play the guitar. The guy's name is Matthew Davies, and he's a touring musician who's in town for the Folk Alliance International conference. He's a very nice guy and he's driven a long way, so you should go hear him play tomorrow night at Java Cabana at 8:30. In other news: - Chef Kelly English from Restaurant Iris has been nominated for a James Beard award. He's a semi-finalist for Best Chef: Southeast. It couldn't happen to someone better. Congratulations, Chef English! - The Med Foundation is having a Young Leadership reception tonight at Sole (in the Westin). It starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m., hors d'oeuvres will be served, and the $10 cover goes to combat infant mortality in Memphis. - Congratulations go to the University of Memphis Tigers for a road win against Tulane last night. They'll play SMU at the FedEx Forum on Saturday.
