Photo #42, and a Few Other Things Worth Mentioning
I'm up at Otherlands this afternoon, working on a few things while I wait for the winner of the Wish gift certificate to meet me. I managed to snag one of the bigger (but not too big) tables next to an outlet, and I've got my work flotsam and jetsam sprawled out all over it.
In other news:
- There's a new group called FuelFilm: Memphis that's sort of like Launch Memphis, but for local filmmakers. Their goal is to get more local movies made in Memphis. They're hosting a workshop this weekend at EmergeMemphis that's going to be a sort of intro to everything you need to hone your story, pitch a movie, and get support from other filmmakers. The event is Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m.
- Speaking of movies, there's going to be a pretty cool one shooting in Memphis this summer. It's called "Losers Take All" and is about a 1980s indie band. The best part is that local musicians Scott Bomar, Jack Oblivian, Steve Selvidge and John Paul Keith will be playing the music for the band.
- Ladies, if you're in need of a date for Valentine's day, Dru's Place is having a speed dating event on Sunday, Feb. 14. For $15, you'll get 12 dates with eligible bachlorettes. There's limited space, so if you want to participate, you need to preregister.
I'd also like to offer a big congratulations to all of the lovely ladies and gents in the Flyer's annual Hotties issue. There are four pages of beautiful Memphians of all kinds (and their astrological signs!).
