This morning, it was colder in Memphis than it was in Anchorage, Alaska. The bad news is that it's not going to get much warmer until next week. The good news is that there are plenty of things to do inside this weekend. 1. Memphis Grizzlies vs. Utah Jazz, FedEx Forum, Friday, 7 p.m. The Memphis Grizzlies and their winning record return to the FedEx Forum to take on the Utah Jazz tonight. It's also Elvis night, in honor of the King's 75th birthday. There will be music, entertainment, and a hat giveaway to the first 5,000 fans. 2. IMAX Film Festival, Pink Palace Museum, weekends in January and February The Pink Palace is showing five IMAX movies during their annual film festival. If you missed them the first time, now's your chance to see Dolphins, Mystery of the Nile, Journey into Amazing Caves, Under the Sea, and The Alps in all of their giant glory. Call the museum for showtimes. 3. Women of Mass Destruction vs. PrissKilla Prezleys, Midsouth Fairgrounds, Saturday, 7 p.m., $10 Memphis Roller Derby's season opener is Saturday night at the Fairgrounds. It's also going to be the last bout at the fairgrounds before the derby heads off to a new home. The Women of Mass Destruction are taking on the PrissKilla Prezleys in what's sure to be a super-exciting bout with lots of action. (Insider tip: sit on the floor in the "Suicide Seating" area to get the best views.) 4. Elvis's 75th Birthday Bash on Beale, Beale St., Saturday, 5 p.m., $15 Celebrate the King of Rock'n'Roll's birthday on Beale Street. A $15 wristband gets you into all of the clubs on Beale for drink specials and Elvis-themed entertainment. Pick up a ticket at the door of any club on Beale or at Graceland. 5. Grand Opening, Playhouse on the Square, Sunday, 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Playhouse on the Square's brand new building will be open for public tours on Sunday. The new theatre seats 350, with no seat more than ten rows from the stage. You might have to take a tour just to see how the architects pulled that off.
