Memphis Girls, John Paul Keith is onto Us.

While I'm working, I tend to plug my giant green headphones into my computer  and let shuffle decide what I'm in the mood for. Sometimes, iTunes gets it wrong (I am never, ever in the mood for Lady Gaga before 10 a.m.), but today, there's been a heavy emphasis on "Spills and Thrills", the newest record from Memphis band John Paul Keith and the One Four Fives. The record's sound is part girl group, a little bit country, and a lot of rock'n'roll (with just a pinch of Frankie Valli). "Rock'n'Roll Will Break Your Heart" sounds like it could be played during the girl-crying-in-the-rain scene from any 1950's movie. For the most part, the songs are upbeat, danceable songs about rock'n'roll and girls, and the hearts that get broken when a man chooses to love rock'n'roll and girls. My favorite song from the One Four Fives is a single that's not on "Spills and Thrills" called "Memphis Girls".  Ladies, John Paul Keith is onto us. He knows that Memphis girls are unafraid independent spirits who don't really care how things are done in other cities. I highly recommend picking up Spills and Thrills from the local record store of your choice or via emusic.  If you want to listen a little bit before you commit, check out this in-studio performance that the band did at Ardent Records. John Paul Keith and the One Four Fives will be playing at the Buccaneer on Feb. 13th.

i'm not familiar with the One Four Fives but i am familiar with Memphis women. there's no comparison. i've lived in 3 states, traveled to 10 countries and Memphis women cannot be replicated and there is no comparison. FYI i just discovered your blog after reading the Flyer and i'm a fan of anyone who supports and promotes Memphis-especially an attractive Memphis woman!
